Gordon Groves builds custom guitars and restores rare vintage instruments for private clients and performing musicians worldwide.
Located in Tucson, Arizona, Gordon began building and repairing guitars immediately after graduating from the renowned Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in 1990.
Each Groves Custom Guitar is built in a closely coordinated working relationship with his select clients' interests, demands, and skills. The instruments exceptional playability and voice derive from exactingly matched tonewoods assembled with today's best-practice vintage technology. Groves Guitars are known for their purity and clarity of tone and their exquisite attention to detail—a joy to hold, play, hear and see.
I have owned and played custom steel-string guitars since 1976. Last year Gordon built a custom mesquite and Adirondack 14 fret OM for me. I can honestly say that this custom Groves guitar continually provides endless hours of pure unabridged playing pleasure. The sound is exquisite, the fret board ease and respond. And when I'm not playing it the guitar provides almost equal pleasure as a pure work of the finest luthiers art just to look at: an exceedingly satisfying investment on every level.
